ONE HAVEN MUSIC

Last week, The Orchard announced that it has entered an extensive and exclusive arrangement with One Haven Music and its Chairman and CEO, industry veteran Michael Caplan, who brings his seasoned A&R experience and extensive network of artist and label relationships to The Orchard. The Orchard will support One Haven projects as a turn-key, comprehensive entertainment solutions provider, with global sales, marketing and distribution.

Michael Caplan has been blazing new trails in the music business since 1983 when he began his career working for music industry exec Morris Levy. After holding marketing and promotions jobs for various record stores and labels, Caplan moved to the A&R department at Epic Records, where he held court for twenty years. In 2003, Caplan left Sony Music to start Or Music, where he signed and broke hip hop artist Matisyahu and Los Lonely Boys. In 2006, Caplan returned to Sony/BMG as Senior Vice President, A&R at Columbia Records before serving as Executive Vice President, A&R at leading independent Razor & Tie (currently an Orchard client).

Michael Caplan commented, "One Haven Music will establish itself as a label home for vital and original artists that allow them to touch and feel their fan base as well as grow their craft to its full potential. We're excited to be doing it at The Orchard, which was borne of the digital age... an organization that embraces change, rather than tries to stomp it out."

As The Orchard/One Haven venture commences, Caplan, alongside One Haven President Jonathan Chang, will sign and provide A&R support to acts that will benefit from The Orchard's widely recognized marketing and promotions strategies.

"Since the advent of digital, The Orchard has innovated at the service of independent artists and labels and been their aggressive advocate at the forefront of this exciting period of industry transformation. Our mantra has always been to build and monetize the audience and with this new label, One Haven Music, we will continue to grow and build on that foundation." said Brad Navin, General Manager of The Orchard. "With this announcement, we pioneer an entirely new platform and product. We look forward to proving out that it's never been a better time to be an artist with talent, vision, and conviction."
