Stomp was incorporated in 1994, and has grown to become one of the largest independent distributors in Australia. As well as importing, Stomp licences and manufactures products including music related merchandise and videos across all genres of music on a regular basis. EQ Recordings is the in-house label of Stomp Entertainment. It was set-up to release dance and electronic product from the world's leading artists and DJs such as John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Greenskeepers, Kaskade, Satoshi Tommie and Infected Mushroom to name a few.
We asked General manager Tom Pandzic where to send demos!
Apart from being General manager at Stomp Entertainment you are the creator of the Balance series (EQ recordings) which features DJ mixes by artists such as James Holden, Anthony Pappa and Lee Burridge. It can be said it is a series with an edge. It seems DJ artists feel free to include tracks on their Balance release that aren't the most obvious ones and push themselves to their creative limits. Why do you think that is?
"We do give the DJs freedom when compiling a Balance mix, but always discuss with them our thoughts at the time before they commence the process. When the DJs forward their proposed tracklistings we try our very hardest to clear every track possible and I'd like to think that makes a huge difference in ensuring the DJ has the right selection of tracks to put together a mix that best represents their style at that point of time, resulting in a mix that does have a point of difference. If you delve into the Balance catalogue, you'll find alot of diverse music, whether it's something old or something new.
