ZIMBALAM MUSIC DISTRUBUTION

Digital music distribution - Sell your releases on iTunes and all digital music stores. Collect 90 % of your royalties.

If you don't have a label and want to get your music out digitally as an independent artist, you probably have heard of (or even used) services offered by companies such as TuneCore and WaTunes. Another player active in the field is Zimbalam. They are powered by Believe Digital, one of the largest digital distributors in the world. You pay a one-off fee per release. Zimbalam pays you 90% of the income generated by sale of your music, there are no annual, subscription or other fees to deal with.

Your contract with Zimbalam is non-exclusive and you keep all of your rights. By using Zimbalam, you are granting them the non-exclusive rights to sell your album on the services and in the countries you select. As well as setting the price and release date for your music, you can choose exactly which stores you want to sell in.

Zimbalan's store list includes 35 of the most popular download stores worldwide, including for example JunoDownload and TrackitDown. As with similar digital distribution services Beatport is not included due to the fact they reserve the right to select what music they want to sell through their stores. But Zimbalan does allow you to get your tracks included in Shazam (that's the cool cell phone application that let's you identify a song that's playing) and have them featured on streaming service Spotify.
To help promote your tracks Zimbalan allows you to generate fully customizable and embeddable 'players' for each album with direct links to the leading digital music stores as well as news, biographies, photos and more. They also have developed official MySpace and Facebook 'apps' which can be installed directly on your profiles. Zimbalan's widgets use 'smart-link' technology to ensure that when people click on your player they are directed to the most relevant store.
