DASHGO TRUE CONTENT SYNDICATION

Fri, August 08, 2008

Don't you think one of the biggest problems with on-line MP3 stores is that everybody is selling everything? Where are the days you went to your favorite record store and the guy over there piled up a bunch of new released for you to listen to?

There are recommendation engines but that's all computer stuff as well. Where's the human factor?

"I think that is definitely a consumer issue, but from a retail standpoint, stores only have two options – generalize or specialize. But for mass consumption the stores need to provide breadth and DashGo helps ensure artists that content is available wherever fans wish to find it.

"There are still some good human curators. KCRW’s got a solid radio line-up. Itunes has a solid mix of recommended and positioned music in their Essentials and other elements, and of course there are more music blogs specializing in just about any genre imaginable that make it easier than ever for people to identify new music they might never have found 10 years ago. The market is growing for the smallest acts, shrinking for the biggest and leveling for the mid-tier. It’s exciting."

Anything exciting to announce?

"Well it’s a competitive market, but I’m pretty confident in saying that DashGo tracks music across more sources than any one else. Soon we will be rolling out a social charts tool for casual fans to see which bands are the biggest movers across multiple social networks rather than a network specific chart.

"And if any artists reading would like a beta social site tracking account – we can offer the first 50 artists who .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) us a free account to track usage across the social networks where they have profiles."
