A taste of Honeyroot

A TASTE OF HONEYROOT

Thu, August 09, 2007
Mac computers are the best thing in the universe for me, creative, instinctive, beautiful and functional. I think I’d like to be buried with one when I die…

Honeyroot is the collaborative work of electronica pioneers Glenn Gregory and Keith Lowndes.

Glenn was (and still is) singer and frontman with Heaven 17. He has worked with many of the greats including Tina Turner, Terence Trent D'Arby, Ultravox, Grace Jones, Propaganda, BEF, Midge Ure, Carole Kenyon, ABC, Ryoichi Yuki, John Lydon, and Rhythm Masters.

Keith played live with ABC and spent many years DJing, coming out of the house, post club era. He has been associated with many well known artists including Neneh Cherry, John McGeogh, Magazine, PIL, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Rodney P (London Posse / Roots Manuva).

Honeyroot's new album "The Sun Will Come" is scheduled for release in August. A good moment to ask Mr. Gregory some questions.

Both of you had a successful music career before collaborating under the name "Honeyroot". What's different today compared to the "good old days"?

"Well actually Keith hasn’t yet has his “good old days” as he is only a spring chicken. I think you must be referring to his ABC connection. He was never in the band really, myself and Keith had co-written and produced an album for ABC called "Skyscraping" and after finishing that Martin Fry did ask Keith to go on tour with them, which he did but only for about 6 weeks. So as I said Keith is yet to have his good old days.

"However I myself do have good old days and actually there isn’t really that much different. In Heaven 17 there were 3 of us but as Keith and I work today so did Heaven 17 back in the day.

"We just get in the studio and create. Well I suppose technologically things have moved forward at an amazing pace but to be honest I have always kept up with that pace and love and embrace all things new and exciting."
