Gabor Nemethy ’Collins’ and Lotfi Behnam are music addicts from Budapest, Hungary. Initially making music together under the ’Groovejacks’ moniker - they sent out their first demo tracks as Collins & Behnam.
Debuting on Dave Angel’s legendary Rotation imprint with their ’Solid Beatz’ EP in 2005, they made the first step to appearances on compilations such as Cristian Varela’s Intecnique mix on INTEC Records, DJ Preach’s Global Warming mix on XMag and Code Techno Sessions on Coda Records. Recently we stumbled upon their 'Mongoose' remix at YouTube. We thought it was cool and were curious if they entered the Sasha Remix Contest at Beatport. Behnam was happy to talk with us about that and other things.
Your MySpace mentions an upcoming release on the renowned Yoshitoshi label. How about that?
"Well, we did a couple of songs in Vienna with our friend Phillip Straub aka DJ Felipe (Austria), and some of these tracks were released on his own label (Titanium Records). The rest was send out to different labels, and Sharam (label owner and 50% of producer duo Deep Dish) got back to us he really liked the tunes and wanted to release them on Yoshitoshi. One track already made it to Yoshitoshi's Miami Space Terrace CD, mixed by Cedric Gervais. More tracks will be out but we must wait patiently to see what happens next."
