Datarock from Norway is known for inventing the new-rave sound and their striking red stage outfit. The world's leading publisher of video games, Electronic Arts is using Datarock's tracks in major game titles. We wanted to know if these guys would ever wear another color track suit. Plus all the rest!

In the studio you are a duo, but on stage Datarock is a band line up in a style reminding of DEVO. Can you tell a bit how/why they inspire you?

"They're able to be the antitheses of a regular band and yet write great music and put up sick shows. The way they use the format of a band to do their weird artistry is inspirational in itself. I wouldn't say our writing is too DEVOesque. It's more their approach to the phenomenon pop music, pop culture, punk, DIY, new media, sound contra visuals, no artistic compromise etc. that found its way into our Datarockin' hearts."

Why the red training outfit? Any story behind this?

"We needed forty identical costumes for a video, and I knew the head of Norwegian clothing brand, WhiteOut, whom just happened to have a red track suits in their collection. He was kind enough to send them over so they ended up in the video. We therefor used them in press shoots, and naturally they ended up wearing them on stage too. All by coincidence, but a very lucky one. We've had to make up excuses ever since, and here's a few.

"One: The track suit is most definitely the timeless outfit of the future. It's comfy, it's practical, it's usually long lasting, it's stylish and so far it hasn't really changed much in design. It' a perfect piece of cothing.
