Roger, Seb and Marina from Vienna in Austria are iBand, one of the first bands out there using just iPhones as musical instruments. Ok, their project isn't rocket science but it's cool, fun and their first song created a real buzz on the web.
How cool is it to form a band just by using your iPhone and some free apps you can download from the internet? The idea behind their iBand is pretty simple but they have done what they told us when we asked them for an interview - "Take your own path in life and don't be just a 'variable x' somewhere in the Internet."
Read the story of the iBand and learn about what you can do with your iPhone or iPhone Touch and start making your own pocketsized music!
Cool, an iband! Who came up with the idea/name and why?
"Actually we did our first video as an example of what could be done with the new music applications that are used, and to present our idea of an iBand. We had been thinking about forming a band that would only use iPhones as musical instruments for quite some time, since the possibilities of the iPhone as a programmable, customizable platform became obvious with the first wave of third-party applications.
"Time seemed just right to take the first step when a new piano-application came out. None of us expected such a great response to our demo-song, which we recorded during a jam-session.
"We have been making music together for quite some time, but until now we haven't found the direction and resources to form a serious band. Two common issues that all start-up bands face is Transportation and Noise Pollution.
