Interview With Marcie

INTERVIEW WITH MARCIE

My songwriting is often highly personal and emotional, so I do feel exposed to people when I sing. I don't feel naked though.

If you're a Trance music lover and don't know Marcie by name you probably do know her by voice from for example her collaboration with Vadim Soloviev for "Stay with me." But she's been very successful as well with other releases featuring her voice on various labels such as Bonzai, Armada, System Recordings and Deepblue, to name just a few. Over the years her tunes have had the support of top DJ's like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Gabriel & Dresden, and many more. No surprise Marcie's name is mentioned in one breath with female vocalists such as Jes Brieden, Kirsty Hawkshaw, Jennifer Rene and Sasja Borjesen.

For 2009 alone Marcie appears on 15 releases - and we're only half way! Marcie, sometimes called WebMarcie because that's the url to her website, currently resides in Boston and also is creator and producer of the radio show 'Behind The Lyric', which airs on Internet and radio worldwide.

Singing has many intriguing aspects to it - so we decided to ask her everything about it.

Recently someone told me, singing is like staying naked in front of a million people crowd. Would you oppose to that?

"I think there is a vulnerability any artist feels when they put their work out for others. My songwriting is often highly personal and emotional, so I do feel exposed to people when I sing. I don't feel naked though. When the singing is done right, I feel empowered, fulfilled, and connected to the world. I try to share my inner thoughts and express my feelings through music. It's the truest form of communication I know of."
