Martin Eyerer from Berlin considers himself not a laptop artist, but a musician. His high-end studio meets the highest requirements and has become an interdisciplinary interface for mastering whether it is Hip Hop, Pop or Electronic. His involvement co-producing several mainstream acts got him a gold record in the UK.
On top of this, the Tech-House Posse around him like Gui Boratto, Oliver Koletzki, Toni Rios, Stephan Hinz, Namito, Chopstick, Oliver Klein or Florian Meindl come to ‘his house’ to jam. It is a small circle of friends who share the same musical interest and who put 200% in to every release they do. We checked what Martin is up to these days.
You are a DJ, a successful producer and label manager at the same time. Do you feel you benefit from this combination as a remixer?
"That's a good question. Yes, I think generally all of these different parts of my work play together in finding the sound I like to produce. As DJ I know what is played in the clubs and I have feeling how a track must be arranged to work. As label owner I have to think about how music could change over the next six months, and, finally, to do a good remix I have to be a good producer."
Tell us about your recent remix for Client. Was it a challenge to do such a thing? Are there any remixes you did in the past, you now regret?
"Last year I contacted Client over MySpace to ask for a collaboration or a vocal feature on one of my upcoming singles. I was really into their last album.
