INTERVIEW WITH NICK MUIR

Tue, June 09, 2009
"Making records for DJ's was what I wanted to do." Nick is also known as Floorjam, Marshal Stax, Monumental, Nemo, One Note Jam, Sony All Stars and X-Odus.

Last year John Digweed told us he's no Superstar DJ - how about the other half of Bedrock? Check Wikipedia and you'll find Nick Muir is a musician, composer and electronic music producer. "He is most well known as one half of the production team Bedrock, which consists of himself and DJ John Digweed, although he has enjoyed not inconsiderable success as an artist in his own right." They had to build an electricity sub station in the grounds of the arena especially for the show - I kid you not!
The company who provided the lights were English, Light and Sound Design and I got on really well with the guys who maintained it all on site. One day we came in early and rigged up my piano (It was full size grand) with a harness attached to motors in the roof - we put fireworks on the legs of the piano and a harness on me too then at a pre-arranged point in the middle of a number, the fireworks went off, and the piano with me still playing it got hoisted 20 feet in the air!
