John Digweed Explains Bedrock 11

DIGWEED EXPLAINS BEDROCK 11

"I always like to try and have smooth transitions between tracks as that is what I enjoy the most about mixing."

With Bedrock's latest incarnation out this month, you'll be suprised by the number of unreleased tracks it contains. We had a quick chat with John Digweed about this and his upcoming John Digweed iPhone app just before he posted part 2 of his Bedrock 11 podcast on his website.

Would you say you took a new direction with Bedrock Eleven?

"With Bedrock 11 I have been busy all summer signing exclusive tracks for this album. Spread over three CDs there are 39 tracks - 28 are unreleased and exclusive tracks. I am really happy with the overall sound of the album as the individual tracks are great on their own but also they work really well in the mix together.

"Bedrock 10 was a celebration of the last 10 years - Bedrock 11 is looking to the future."

Compared to its predecessors, do you think on this edition your mixing style is different?

"Well I always like to try and have smooth transitions between tracks as that is what I enjoy the most about mixing.

"So the style is not different, just the track are different."

What is more important in the mix, the journey, or the climax?

"The music is the most important - to put a mix together you need great tracks."
