JORIS VOORN WINS DJ AWARD

Fri, September 25, 2009
Last night at Pacha (Ibiza), Joris Voorn was announced as the 2009 DJ Awards “Best Breakthrough Act”.

The 12th edition of the DJ Awards saw the biggest names from across the genres of dance music gather to celebrate another unforgettable season, and for Joris Voorn 2009 is proving to be an unforgettable year.

It’s been quite a ride for this Dutch whizz-kid from Amsterdam. Starting with his highly acclaimed Balance 014 (EQ) mix album, where he mixed over 100 tracks and samples into a mind-blowing musical journey. Read the interview we had with Joris about this album here.

This landmark mix album has been followed with several critically praised and high-selling releases on Green and Rejected. Both labels are owned and managed by Joris Voorn and his "partner in crime" and part of Rejected, Edwin Oosterwal.

Releases like “Sweep the Floor”, “We’re all Clean”, and Joris' massive remix of Robert Babicz’s Darkflower, are dancefloor favourites around the globe and have gained great support from artists like Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier and Dave Clarke, amongst a list of thousands.

Even now his new release “Chase the Mouse” is topping the Beatport chart, and the B-side “We’re all Clean” is at the number 8 spot of this same Beatport chart.

Both “Chase the Mouse” and “We’re all Clean” are tech-house tracks with that typical Joris Voorn feel to them, with a universal appeal.

We congratulate Joris with winning this award. Without doubt you'll hear more about him in the future.
