Keys N Krates create a raw, raucous and rave-drenched sound. Their free "Blackout” EP is an enjoyable listen and most tracks will rock your party!

Keys N Krates consists of Jr. Flo (turntables), David Matisse (keyboards) and Adam Tune (drums). The Toronto trio combines samples with live instrumentation which results in a raw, raucous and rave-drenched sound (sonic references: Rustie and Prodigy). Check YouTube to get a taste of the group’s energetic performances remixing artists like Snoop Dogg, MGMT and Justice live on stage.

The six tracks of the Blackout EP (for grabs on their website) sample a host of different artists. "Got a Lot to Learn" reworks Natalie Cole’s vocals into a breakbeat track and Otis Redding is deconstructed in "Uncle Otis." A stand-out track “Ring the Alarm” combines Tenor Saw’s toasts with kwaito rhythms and rave sounds.

“The Blackout” EP is an enjoyable listen and most tracks will rock your party! The use of live instrumentation provides the freedom for live experimentation and remixing. Currently on tour in the U.S., it’s now time to come to Europe!
