READY TO BATTLE?

A laptop, the crowd, and the jugdes! Spreading from the US recent laptop battles have taken place in Germany (Mannheim) and the UK. A laptop battle is a competitive event for laptop musicians to match their skills against one another. Contestants got three minutes to move the crowd and convince the judges who should be the last one standing. It's a fusion of sound design, composition and stage performance, and a chance for laptop musicians to prove their skills in battle and develop techniques and strategies. Battling contestants are choosen at random and the judges will decide who is promoted to the next round.

The rules are something like this.
Contestants can use one midi controller & one soundcard. All gear must fit in a 2' x 2' square. Battles are chosen randomly and are 3 minutes long. Judges decide the outcome of battles in a single elimination style. Contestants may choose to be faded out after the time limit or to receive a notice 30 seconds before the time limit from the MC. Contestants must show up at least one hour before the event starts.
