Besides being a well-known Techno producer and DJ, Luciano (full name: Luciano Nicolet) is the boss of Cadenza, one of the most influential minimal techno and tech house record labels of the moment.
Last month, Luciano presented his new Æther Live project for the very first time at the Monegros Desert festival in Spain. The Chilean presented his laptop project as a complex mixture of music, video and light intended to thoroughly disturb our idea of music. It took him well over a year to finish the project and to bring it on tour.
Luciano took up the role of laptop conductor who leads his musicians which we find in a lot of laptop orchestras these days. Among the musicians involved are Cadenza artists Reboot, Lee Van Dowski, Mirko Loko, the Digitaline duo and a Swiss hang drummer called Omri Hason. The whole multi-media performance on stage eventually ends in one big live laptop jam!
All five laptop rockers are using Ableton Live to play the instruments while Luciano is manipulating the mix live with his own FX using a touch-screen controller.
Watch a part of the live performance!
Luciano: "Æther is a live concert based on technology and the senses. The idea is to finally make people understand what it is to make electronic music and what it is all about to make the laptop music and what you can do out of this."
"Luciano presents Æther Live" will be on tour in Japan, Poland, Israel, Holland, Belgium, England, Ireland and Mexico in August and September.
