Alexander Damien, from Morayshire (Scotland - UK) is always working on new material inspired by 80s Electronica, Disco & early House music. His creations get a life of their own under the name "Virtuadolls". We wanted to know more about them.

You are the creator of "The Virtuadolls". Tell us something about them girls.

"The Virtuadolls is by name and concept a fictional band, so the "girls" themselves are in away the instruments and sounds you hear. As I am primarily a classical painter by profession, I create illusions of things everyday (www.alexanderdamien.net), which is exactly what the V-Dolls are about. I consider myself the generator or the engine of this project, but not the front figure - there are none (except for the music artwork in itself)."

How do you come up with these tunes? They're absolutely Disco flavour with an occasional touch of House.

"I come up with the melodies on the keyboard or on the guitar, and if it rocks - I get to work on my laptop. In order for the instruments and grooves to sound good, a lot of listening to other artists is essential. I am inspired by many musicians and producers including Trevor Horn, Neil Rodgers, Bernard Edwards, Alan Braxe and many more. I also read music theory and production techniques, though I have no formal education in music."
