Meet Micromattic’s Nick Seizov!

MEET NICK SEIZOV!

Sat, February 14, 2009
"I spend the last eight years of my life moving around the world which was a great experience but I feel the need to attach myself to a place in both physical and social terms. London might not offer the best weather on the planet but it is quite an amazing place. I can't believe all the things that happened to me since I moved here. There is so much going on and the music scene is incredible too. British music has been and still is largely influential for my own musical development. I feel privileged to be able to draw inspiration from and be part of this incredible pool of creativity."

Nikolay Seizov is a Bulgarian born recording artist also known to the electronic music addicts of his homeland as DJ Zizo. This guy never sleeps! He's involved with so many things, that an intro alone could easily fill our three page interview format :) So let's plunge in right away!

Microwave, Micromattic, Under Over The Clouds. What's hiding behind the names and what's your role in them?
"They stand for few creative deseases I am suffering from :) Microwave was my first serious music project I started back in 2006 when I used to live in Cambridge. Micromattic was formed last year in London. It was originally solely intended for my music collaboration with creative engineering wiz Matt Venn. But as I liked the name a lot I started using it for everything I do, so right now Micromattic could mean just about anything. I like to think of Micromattic as an artist collective that is always open for new possibilities and members. I do pretty much everything for Micromattic from music composition to bookings and management.

"Under Over The Clouds is something in between a music video and an experimental short film I am doing with a team of creative people in London. My role here is equally holistic. I wrote the music, directed together with Sasha & Brian, worked as a producer, cameraman, helped with building the stage set, assisted the make up artist and fashion designer, made the website, organised the premiere event, you name it.
"The relation between my projects? I guess that would be the experimental approach and drive for innovation."

Micromattic's MySpace says, "Wii make music." Explain!
"This is a revolution we have been planning :) With all the laptop DJs sucked in their computer screens today, completely alienated from their audiences - going out to night clubs hardly is fun anymore. The electronic music scene can't be more boring! Seeing the old school boys spinning plates and nervously chasing the right tempo in their beat-matching quest is equally dull. I really can't think of a reason to go damage my hearing in a crowded sweaty room where some guy is staring at a screen for an hour or is making efforts to look good for the ladies while his set is totally pre-arranged and beat-matched.
