Parisian born DJ "Nick Dresti" aka Space Cowboy has been producing music under aliases like DJ supreme, DJ Chrome and Loop Da Loop to name a few. His debut album 'Across The Sky' was released on Fatboy Slim's label Southern Fried Records. His second album 'Big City Nights' was released on Tiger Trax UK. Both these albums were successfully released in Japan by Sony Music. 'Digital Rock' is the new album from Space Cowboy.
You must have been proud - and probably still are - to have people like Norman Cook looking after you at the start of your career. But how do you experience this right now?
"Yeah, he was really on his game, and I was proud to be a part of that. Nobody could do it like him, so I didn't mind at all! Right now, after that whole experience, I have realized that it is better to try and keep as much creative control as possible. It is important to be endorsed by some big names and obviously flattering if your music reaches your peers and heroes in a positive way, but you can get lost in all of that. You just got to try and make dope music that you are happy with. If you are happy with it, then nobody can tell you it's wack, and if they do, it doesn't matter. But if you know in your heart that it's not your best, then...."
It is said that you named yourself after Jamiroquai's track "Space Cowboy", which track is about getting high. Uuhhhh?
"No. It is from a early 80's electro tune by The Jonzun Crew called 'Space Cowboy'. Though I did used to blaze in the studio a little, though not any more, and I can be rather vacant at times.
