If you haven’t heard of Grasshopper, King of My Castle, By Any Demand and Riff then you’re probably not in tune with dance music. Every Sander van Doorn production of last year has sent tidal waves through the electronic music industry with DJs from a multitude of genres playing his tracks. Coming out of nowhere, Sander van Doorn's star didn't stop rising the past 4 years. Last year he was listed number 15 in DJ Mag’s prestigious Top 100. And he surprised both fans and criticasters with the sound of his debut album 'Supernaturalistic' hitting the stores just last week.
Who is that guy? Yes, he's from Holland and he's going up .....
In the past you've produced under names such as Sam Sharp, Purple Haze, Sandler and Filterfunk. About a year ago you decided to drop the aliases and continue with your DJ name Sander van Doorn. Was this because your DJ career became more important?
"The fact that my DJ career really started kicking off definitely contributed to that decision but the main reason for me was that I felt I didn’t need different aliases in order to produce different styles of music. Since a lot of people had already made the connection between all these aliases, for me it felt only logical to put all projects under just one name."
Tiësto once said he voted for you in the DJ top 100. How about that?
"Yeah, he posted a comment on his website in 2006, basically tipping me together with 4 other dj’s for that years top 100 votings. Obviously I was totally cool with that!"
