Sylvia Tosun is an award-winning songwriter and performer. Tosun delivers rich and multi-dimensional songs she co-writes with spiritual poet and lyricist, Julie Flanders and composer, Emil Adler. On her latest self released album “Jump In”, Sylvia’s powerful and passionate voice combined with world-rock rhythms, pop melodies, poetic metaphors and mystical undertones, creates a fresh new sound. We wonder why she isn't a superstar backed by a major label.
You release all your material by yourself. Why aren't you backed by a big label?
''Have you ever read those major label contracts? I may as well open a vein and send them an attachment for their vacuums (LOL). I am grateful for all of the major events I have been included in as well as the worldwide recognition I have received that has positioned my projects as major label status without actually being backed by one - I am very happy with my fan base and the ability to express music as an art form without restriction. These days, major labels are not putting as much time, effort and resources into an artist like they used to, so to be signed by one may become an outmoded idea very soon. Hopefully, having gotten a head start on being independent, I may be able to help other artists reach their goals in the future as well.''
