Zion Train - legendary UK Dub pioneers founded by Neil Perch - have been undisputed leaders in the genre for more than 15 years. They are one of the finest live dub acts in the world and promoted the practice of dynamic on-stage dub mixing which they perform alongside acoustic instruments and the best live vocalists.
The live line-up has always been very flexible, varying from Perch and a vocalist for sound-system gigs, to a full band lineup for larger events.
Whatever the setup: A laptop is always part of it!
After several years without releasing new material Zion Train will release a new studio album end of this year. We approached them with some questions while they were performing in Ireland for their European tour. As Neil Perch had a little time on his hands, he was happy to answer them.
The Zion Train live experience is legendary. Around the globe audiences are whipped into a frenzy by pounding basslines and heavy rhythms. How do you experience this vibe on stage? is the intensity always the same?
"The intensity is always different on-stage and it depends a lot on the vibe we get from the audience. So the festival vibe is always different to a large venue and that is obviously different to a small, more intimate venue.
