CAZALS' DANIEL GALLAGHER

"I have always wanted to get a Mac as they look fantastic, are very simple to operate and are great with music software but they just make me think of unemployed graphic designers."

"It wasn't planned in anyway, circumstances prevailed really. Kitsuné seemed keen on us and were the only label that offered a deal where the band could get out of London and make the album we foresaw. All the others were very much 'stick the band in an east London studio and press record', which isn't what we wanted to do. As far as me becoming the manager, I don't think the band have actually hired me as the manager officially, I've just been sort of 'sitting in' for the last year. I had always helped our old manager run the band and when we parted ways over a year ago I just got lumped with the job."

Browsing bands on MySpace these days, Dance and Rock music seem to merge more than ever before. For example your own MySpace page features two dance orientated remixes of Cazals' tracks. We feel there's a lot more to explore here. How about getting some of your multi-tracks up for download and remixing?

"That was an idea I've discussed with Kitsuné about giving out the parts to a track or two and letting people have a go at remixing and whoever comes back with the best remix, stick it on a single release, then Radiohead came along and did something similar for the release of 'Nude', oh well great minds..... "

What is your favourite guitar brand - and your favourite laptop brand, and why? How many do you own?

"I'm a complete Fender guitar person, its a bit of a family trait. I've got a 1979 Fender Stratocaster, a 1979 Fender Musicmaster and a 1985 Fender Telecaster. As for laptops I've always wanted to get a Mac as they look fantastic, are very simple to operate and are great with music software but they just make me think of unemployed graphic designers sitting in a coffee place in Stoke Newington trying to look busy. So I have a robust Compaq which has great speakers for listening to music on and is able to take a few knocks which happens on the road a lot."
