"It is certainly not bad luck, I have been very lucky with the media. All very positive so far, and - not sure if you are wrong or not noticing my profile increasing recently - I have certainly been working as hard as ever on music. Maybe people are just discovering it for themselves after all this time.....hopefully. Eventually all good things will rise."
Your first encounters with music go back as far as early Bowie and Kraftwerk. What is the magic of that?
"Great music by great artists. Brilliant ideas, always imaginative, and very exciting for a young listener."
Born in an era without electronic devices other than maybe a portable transistor radio - what kind of music would you be making today if the world would still be without all the electronic stuff?
"Well, I have to say i'm not that old! The first instrument I got was a synthesizer and then a drum machine, so I grew up with electronic instruments."
Do you consider yourself a Dance Music artist?
"I consider myself a musician and producer - and DJ of course."
Your remix of NUfrequency's "Go that deep" with that touching voice from Shara Nelson is absolutely beautiful. We hear many people raving about it. How has the response been so far?
"The response has been fantastic. I have worked with Shara many times in the past, I feel we have a great musical connection. It was a real pleasure working on this record. It was very easy to make it sound good, her voice is all about passion and soul, as is my music. We are also working on more new music together."
What's your link with Massive Attack?
"I have no link at all with Massive Attack - apart from the fact that I like their music and I have worked with three of the same vocalists. Shara Nelson, Sara Jay and Tracey Thorn."
You've done tons of remixes. What's your favorite remix?
"It's difficult to pick out a favorite out of all the remixes I have done. It's usually the most recent, and I do really like my new mix of 'Soothe' by Furry Phreaks - one of my alter egos.'"
Your compilation for Defected is planned for release April 28th. What are your plans for the future?
"I have lots of plans for the future. The new Furry Phreaks single for Defected. Lots of releases on my label Miso, a new artist album, a jazz album. Lot's of DJ gigs worldwide. Live gigs. Lots of remixes. My new project called Version (I do it with Atjazz and a French vocalist called Emilie Chick). The list goes on and on. Too much to do - I can't complain though!"
