As an artist you seem to be driven by spirituality rather than success. Yet you seem a down to earth person. What meaning has music in your life?
"For many people, the creation of music can be for many reasons. For me, it went from something I liked to do to something I need to do. I always thought that people are better served with music when there is a message or apparent idea within it, so I try to select topics that would appeal to everyone. What people believe would be one of those topics. At times, I think it's great to have success, but I do not see it being crucial to a lifelong career. There are more important signs from the public that a artist can use to keep pushing forward. Even ignoring ones work can be factored into the equation."
Both sound and vision appeal to major human senses. Do you feel combining them in your work has enabled you to better express yourself?
"At times, yes. It really depends on what the subject is and what the best solution would be in translating it. "Sound only" can work on the imagination in ways whereas actually seeing the subject would be too much or the understanding of it would come too quickly. Music can be used to tease or insinuate the idea too. Both Sound and Sight are responsive senses, meaning that only when there is response or act does the initial gesture come to fruition."
Using ones senses is the vehicle for communication. Making music, what do you hope your audience to perceive?
"It would be ideal if people could understand exactly what I'm trying to say, but this rarely happens. If the people simply take the time to listen, I'm quite satisfied. Sometimes, I cancel the official release because in the promotional stage, I found the response I had hoped for. This provides me with the information to move onto the next release. To add, there is no correct or wrong way to make music. It is what it is. People are the ones that take it and make into other things for their own reasons."
