INTERVIEW: DON DIABLO

He's doing his gigs, he runs a label and he's producer at the same time. And it is said he's Holland's sexiest DJ.

originally released on one of my labels, ''Middle of the road Music'', which I started as a platform for new talent to release stuff that was not so middle of the road- but now I guess we have become just that! (LOL)
"But seriously, nothing much has changed. I am still looking for good music by up and coming young producers, but I am sorry to say that most of the demos I have received the last few months sound the same right now. I am not looking for another hit or rip off, I am looking for good music and sometimes that just takes time I guess. When that time has come, we will be ready for the next release. Right now I am mainly focusing on my own music, my first official UK release in a few years - Don Diablo ''Blow'' - will be out in May on Gusto Records."
You are in the top 8 friends of MySpace superstar Tila Tequila and recently you performed at the first HYVES party in The Netherlands. Do you think your presence on these websites helped you making it into the spotlights?
"Definitely! Radio & (M)TV are starting to sound like a broken record, it seems like they are giving 90% of the airplay to 10% of the records that are out there. Very boring if you ask me! Luckily we are now in a time where people don't have to wait until they are served new music, they can just go out and explore themselves. And yes, thanks to people like for instance Tila, more people have found their way to my own internet presence, whether that is MySpace (international), Hyves (Holland) or my videos on YouTube. The fact that I am amongst the 10 most popular artists on a democratic website like hyves.nl (with over 3 million members) means more to me than good airplay on a radio station I never listen to anyway. Web popularity is a clear sign of the fact that many people are digging your stuff and not just one guy in dusty little office that is deciding on next week's play-list. Internet is the most democratic form of mass communication, you decide what you want to hear, read or watch."
