DATAROCKIN'

"2nd question: Yes, and with very little demographic variation our audience seem to act very much the same. It's a work out, a disco, a party or a foreplay if you will.

"The imperative invitation: The best gig was probably Meridith Music Festival outside of Melbourne, Australia. We played main stage, after sunset, open air with close to 13.000 Aussies in front of us whom new our songs better than ourselves. It was just something about that show. Lot's of love I guess. Festivals with a great atmosphere have the best audience, and Meridith seemed pretty special that way. The worst gig was probably at the Knitting Factory in New York City back in 2003. The whole thing was so bad it was almost good. The stupid ass idiot sound guy was so impolite and rude we'd have to kick his sorry little ass if he hadn't been so fucking pathetic. It's always charming when the ones who doesn't seem to know what the hell their doing act arrogant and disrespectful. Everything about playing that shit hole was sad. The few there had a good time though, cause we found the whole experience so totally absurd we gave it all we had."

Your last release was an EP titled "See What I Care" (2007). When can we expect a new album? What's up for this year?

"We've already started recording our follow up, but it's still uncertain when it'll be released. Hopefully we'll release a few singles within the year, and we already started playing some of the tracks live. Our touring schedule is still pretty crazy with 70 shows over the first 6 months of the year, and we're still promoting that debut, but right now it's all about the next album. I'd say it's a continuation of the best in our debut combined with the best of our live show. Now that we've nailed a few sweet tracks I'm not too worried anymore. We're still writing though, so the album won't be ready in months."

You're also supposed to release music through Artwerk - Nettwerk's game music branch. What's the plan here?

"We already have tracks in nine of EA's top selling games (FIFA, SIMS, Need For Speed, Madden, etc.), and the plan is to continue using games as a new media for exposure, not necessarily a source of income in the sense that we'll write exclusive tracks for games. In contrary to general misconception, most bands involved in soundtracks for games doesn't ever write exclusive material but simply OK that ready made tracks are included. In our case we rerecorded "Fa Fa Fa" in Simlish and accepted a remix, but in seven out of nine games the tracks are lifted right off our release. I do find it exiting though. The rough measurement calculate that a minimum of 50 million people will be exposed to Datarock through gaming over the next couple of months. That's insane, right. The more the merrier I guess. The plan is to surpass that number."

How about blue jumpsuits, or pink ones?

"No and ...no."
