Your sound has been compared with names such as Vive la Fête, Human League and Pet Shop Boys. Do you consider Client to have a retro sound?
"We never started out wanting to be any sort of retro band; we just made the first album in my bedroom. Our influences were Joy Division, Kraftwerk and DAF with the Smith's and Dusty Springfield added for their songwriting and vocal quality."
Not so long ago you exchanged your Airline Uniforms for strapless leather dresses. Not that we complain, but it seemed these uniforms were sort of your trademark. Any comments?
"We have about 10 different uniforms. The strapless dresses are the only ones that bare any real flesh and were made for us by Vogue Italy. We wear them with badges and think they are a bit strict and great for our more dark audiences and Gothic gigs. I personally prefer the tight black pencil skirt and shirt as this is something anyone can wear in the service industry. From a bank employee to the check-in girl at the airport."
Recently Martin Eyerer remixed one of your tracks. Is that a one off, or can we expect your dirty-pop-electro sound to move towards more dance related stuff in the future?
"We always prefer the more dirty electro sounds! We just wanted a more mainstream mix to see if it would cross over a bit and people who would never ever listen to Client might be happy to dance to us."
What is coming next from you girls?
"We'll be starting our own underwear line. Very strict of course!"
Lingerie? Electronically yours? Clients wanted. Satisfaction guaranteed! We're still puzzled ....
