Your involvement with dance music goes back to the days when everything was just called house music. Do you think today's number of genres and sub-genres is a limitation for upcoming producers? To get their work released should they follow their artistic instinct or must they comply to fit in?
"Of course they should follow their artistic instinct because simply the result will be better for sure. If you just produce music you feel, it will be much more artistic or unique than if you try to copy something or limit yourself with something.
"Everyone will be put in a genre anyway because unfortunately people do that. The problem is also that everyone understands something else with these subgenres. Some people call certain music minimal, for some it's house and for others the same stuff is just techno. So this makes no sense thinking too much about it before starting."
Looking at your studio gear list, one can conclude you're a hardware man and only use Cubase for arranging. Is that a correct assumption, or is the list on your website outdated? What is your favorite hardware/software?
"I like hardware very much, that's correct. The list is not really up to date as it is longer now. But I also like the advantage of software and believe in taking the best of both worlds and mixing it together. For me there's no general hard or software decision. I love very much my Lexicon 480 L reverb or the model 200 I have. Also the Manley is amazing like the Amek compressor.
"My favourite synth is the 303 for sure. I own one for over 10 years. I also love the plug ins from Native Instruments like Reactor or FM8 or Battery. For many years my sequencer is Cubase; but I think it's just a matter of what you know best. I also have Ableton live for live sets."
What can we expect in the near future from you?
"I am just working on my first album which will be released in February on my label Kling Klong. It will contain 10 to 12 tracks - 8 from myself alone plus 2 to 4 collaborations (Stephan Hinz, Oliver Klein, Anthony Collins). I already have done 8 tracks and my deadline is in 3 weeks so it looks good :-). Also I release on Toolroom a new project with Patrick Chardronnet called Leisure Club and the next Eyerer & Koletzki single is just released on Kling Klong.
"A new Eyerer & Chopstick will be finished by the end of this month and will come out end of the year.
.... I think."
