we could only conclude that if it moves people, then it is the right approach. The measurement is the affect on the audience."
Tell us something crazy about your tour with Fisherspooner :)
"Many things were crazy about our tour with FischerSpooner. We knew they placed a lot of emphasis on performance and technology and we matched completely in that sense. After 3 shows and not being able to meet Casey Spooner, dhArma approached him after a concert in Houston to take some pictures as a fan. Then Casey asked, "are you not the one with the mask playing with the opening band?" and dhArma answered with lyrics from FS's Money Can't Dance: "it's to late for someone like me."
"That moment sparked other interesting late night interplays, such as an impromptu street party in the parking lot of Bogart's in Cincinatti, Ohio, where Ssion, Casey, the whole crew and us danced, sang and played to the wee hours like it was our private after-hours club."
Would you agree your music surfs around the edges of industrial, progressive house and the electronic genre popular in the early 80's?
"At this point in our career after experimenting with the majority of styles compressed in electronica we can see our first singles Discordia and Awarned very much integrated as an EBM, Tech-House with an eighties sounds. We needed to be able to replicate those sounds live and we were working with the Roland TD12 sounds to do so.
"Now, we added some other elements to our repertoire including drum machines, Mainstage's Ultrabeat and samplers through the Native Instruments Battery plug in. Plus phAxas is utilizing new keyboards herself. The sound will stay unique but the styles will oscillate between everything that is allowed inside the electronic music genre."
What do you hope to achieve in 2010?
"This is the year of the festivals and conferences in Europe. We want to play at Sonar in Barcelona, Creamfields in Liverpool, and C/O POP in Koln Germany. Also, we want to do our first college tour in the US. We want to travel the country again but specifically to the campuses, in order to connect with the future influentials. Also, we want to start playing our DJ set in clubs, release our first album this spring and continue to convert the word hope into reality."
Organic and Arma. Betamax - isn't that an ancient video recorder standard? Whatever! The combination that will always keep us puzzled and intrigued. Menawhile their music definitely is worth checlking out.
