"The Zuni legend is that the dragonfly has supernatural powers and represents shamanism. Japan is named Yamato (the isles of the Dragonfly) by an early Emperor in honor. To Native Americans, they are the souls of the dead. I believe they are reminders that we are light and can reflect our light in powerful ways if we choose to do so, allowing our personal vision to shine.''
On the album's title track you sing, "You're Free. You can feel the edge of a miracle. That's when you know you can fly. Jump in ..." Can you describe what freedom means to you?
''To me, freedom is taking a risk, telling the truth, trusting the Universe and allowing life and love to flow through us.
''One more thing about the dragonfly, as if I have not said enough already. I noticed that after 9/11 in New York city, there were hardly any dragonflies for a while but, just about 2 years ago, the summer was full of multitudes of them like I've never seen before. I mean, they were flying around my car; just in front of my 27th floor window - they were everywhere - and I also noticed a certain sense of healing in the air and downtown near ground zero was really starting to look normal again. Maybe the native American folklore is true that they were the souls of the dead finally being lifted. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy :)''
