How does it feel to be chosen the sexiest DJ of 2005 and 2006?
"Well, I'll tell you this: not so bad, not so bad at all! Especially when you consider the fact that back in the days I was a very insecure boy with weight problems - a ponytail and well, far from a sexsymbol! Winning this year's ''Holland's Favorite DJ'' award felt pretty good as well, although you should stop taking these award things to seriously before it takes away the attention from the music."
It seems dance music of today lends a lot of bleeps and beeps from the 80s. How you feel about a marriage between 70s rock music and dance music?
"For me personally the whole bleepy thing is a bit boring, although it works well in a clubsetting. And yes, I am all for mixing things up. In fact that is one of my trademarks, rock is, besides hip hop, definitely a big element in my music - whether that is 70s, 80s or 90s rock. I love guitars and I will always try to incorporate them in my music."
What happened to your Ultimate DJ Boyband?
"Hahaha, that was a big joke - or more like a mediastunt we pulled to fool around a bit and take the p*ss out of all these pre-fabricated artists and bands. Little did we know that the media (and record companies) would jump all over us and well, take us seriously! We decided that we couldn't take the pressure and part our ways before things would start developing in a direction we didn't want. So we decided to do just one show, the first and final one. That was a very emotional and confusing night as you will understand!"
Do you consider yourself a Laptoprocker? What kind of software are you rocking with?
"Yes and no, I have a a big passion and a big fear for computers and software at the same time! On one hand I love the fact that I can make my own records all by myself, thanks to my studio, computers and software. On the other hand I don't like solving problems all the time and I hate the fact that you are basically lost without these machines. A computer is like a woman I guess: Can't live with them and definitely can't live without them! Right now I am mainly rockin' Nuendo, Cool Edit Pro, my Mackie DxB mixer and a shitload of plugins!"
