Aufgang are a French alternative electro music trio formed by Rami Khalifé & Francesco Tristano, both playing keys - with Aymeric Westrich on drums. The fourth band member listed on their MySpace is Francois Baurin, their sound engineer.
Coincidence brought them together as band in 2005. Francesco was playing a recital at an event in an art gallery in Barcelona when Jeff Mills (interview here) turned-up with the booker for the Sonar Festival. At the end of the show, Rami joined Francesco for an unbridled interpretation of The Bells - Mills' signature track. Jeff Mills loved it and the Sonar Festival booker got to work. After rehearsing non-stop for five nights the trio delivered an explosive first time performance at Sonar 2005.
In 2009 they released the self titled album 'Aufgang' which breaths an experimental, classical and ambient atmosphere. Earlier this year Agoria picked one of its tracks for inclusion on Balance 016, the infamouse mix compilation series by Australian record label Stomp.
Weblog Dödselectro are hosting a remix contest for Aufgangs's track ‘Dulceria’ from their latest EP ‘Air On Fire,’ which contains three previously unreleased tracks, a new take on the self-titled Aufgang, as well as two inspired remixes of Channel 7 by Sutehk and Krazy Baldhead.
The winning remix will be included on Aufgang's next digital EP release. Deadline for submissions is 30th August 2010.
