Julia Remix Contest

THE VERY BEST - JULIA REMIX CONTEST

The Very Best are releasing 'Julia' from 'Warm Heart Of Africa' as their next single and have launched a remix competition from their MySpace blog page.

London based Esau Mwamwaya grew up in Lilongwe (Malawi, Africa) where he played drums in various bands such as Masaka Band. He was a good friend of Black Missionaries founder Evison Matafale and they played together for several years before Evison was killed in Malawi police custody.

After moving to London, Esau met Radioclit - producer team (Etienne Tron and Johan Karlberg) of dancable tropical and jungle infused electro tunes (sometimes dubbed Ghettopop) and they and started working on music together. Their profile started rising quickly through leaking quality tracks and mixtapes in the blogosphere. Three years later upon the release of their 7" single 2008 debut the project got the name 'The Very Best.'

Pitchfork qualified the release "just about the most listenable and flat-out enjoyable record of the year" - and wrote, "Mwamwaya and Radioclit are open here to everything from South Africa's marabi and kwaito music to Hans Zimmer scores to French and American hip-hop to Michael Jackson."

Their 2009 debut Album 'Warm heart Of Africa' is out now on Green Owl, a NYC-based record label started by artists for artists with the idea that great music can be sustainable, both economically and environmentally.

To celebrate the next single 'Julia' off 'Warm Heart Of Africa' The Very Best have launched a remix competition from their MySpace blog.

Nice one! Deadline is Oct 17.
