Going to the same highschool together, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May without doubt are originators of techno, specifically Detroit techno. Electronic music today would look very different without them.
From the end of the 1980's till today Saunderson has produced many tracks under various aliases, of which Inner City, E-Dancer and Reese Project are best known. While most E-Dancer songs are characterized by an underground techno feel, The Reese Project was incorporated as a platform for Kevin's more soul-inspired techno productions. With Inner City Kevin took a vocal approach, resulting in classics such as "Good Life" and "Big Fun." After three albums, Inner City had about 12 Top 40 hits in the UK and two Top 20 albums, with combined sales of more than 6 million.
Today Inner City is reaching a new generation of fans thanks to new remixes being released through Kevin’s label KMS records.
Kevin is still performing and producing tracks regularly. He will be joining Carl Cox on September 6 for 'The Revolution' at Space Ibiza. This surely will be a night to remember. Earlier this year Kevin collaborated with his nephew Kweku Saunderson to produce the track "Roll On."
FOEM invites you to participate in a remix contest for this track, for the chance to win at least one release on KMS Records.
