American rock band Linkin Park have launched a remix contest where fans can create their own mix of an LP track. Entries are eligible for a $4,000 prize while a college represented by a winning student will be awarded a concert on the campus in the fall. Until the end of August you can use the remix application on the Linkin Park Tour website.
Using the application, you can select various audio tracks from different sets of two songs and play them at user-selected intervals. The song sets are: Linkin Park "In the End" / "Crawling", "Bleed It Out" / ”What I’ve Done”, "What I’ve Done" / ”Numb”, "Bleed it Out" / ”Papercut”, "Given Up" / ”In The End”, "Given Up" / ”Crawling”, and "Leave Out All The Rest" / Linkin Park "Given Up".
Record your own remix and create custom art for it. The resulting remix is stored in a database at the Linkin Park Tour website and can be accessed through a link that is sent out in an email or posted on Facebook.
Although you do not need to attend college to be eligible for the cash prize, this remix competition is only open to legal residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico). Read the contest rules.
The Linkin Park Grand Prize & College Concert Remix Contest ends on August 31, 2008.
