MOS DEF REMIX CONTEST

Actor and hip hop icon Mos Def (New York) doesn't really need an introduction. Initially recognized for his musical output, the Brooklyn born (as Dante Terrell Smith) artist is one of a handful rappers who have received critical acclaim for their acting work. Mos Def is also active in political arena, speaking out his heart on issues such as racism and terrorism. Last but not least he's mastermind behind a clothing brand.

Hip hop website thebackpacked.com are currently hosting a remix contest for 10 Mos Def songs.

"Each week for 5 weeks we’ll post up two Mos Def acapellas. Some will be Mos Def solo songs, others are features and work from his group projects. It is then your job to create a remix with the acapella and send it to us."

Use any resources you have for remixes, they can be entirely sample based or fully composed. Only one submission per acapella. You can however submit a remix for all ten acapellas.

The final submission deadline is Friday, February 18th.
