Indaba seems on fire lately! New 'big artist' remix opportunities pop-up like flowers in spring. This time it's Peter Gabriel - who's 1980 track "Games Without Frontiers" is subject in Indaba's most recent contest.
As co-founder of legendary rock band Genesis, Peter Gabriel has a more than rich musical past - which he modestly illustrated with his first album in seven years. Released last January, ‘Scratch My Back,’ is an orchestral covers collection of songs by artists he admires: David Bowie, Paul Simon, Elbow, Bon Iver, Talking Heads, Lou Reed, Arcade Fire, The Magnetic Fields, Randy Newman, Regina Spektor, Neil Young and Radiohead. Now Peter has taken the project to a new level by asking these artists to reinterpret and perform their favourite Peter Gabriel song to be released as double A sides on iTunes.
Peter is asking you to join this collaborative event. He wants you to "Scratch His Back" by covering his 1980 hit song "Games Without Frontiers." Take the stems from this classic and remix them in your own personal style. Peter Gabriel himself will be choosing one collaborator to be flown out to the UK to master the winning mix at his Real World Studios - the place where they have one of the only working Sony Oxford Digital consoles in the world :)
The winning mix will be released as a double A side single, along with the original version of the song.
Submissions are due by July 1, 2010.
