SOON: REMIX CONTESTS HOSTED BY LAPTOPROCKERS

Today is our birthday, the site is up and running for two years. It's been lots of fun, we had crazy times and lots of feedback but something has always been missing. The following thought occurred more that just once: "We've posted about a zillion of remix competitions - isn't it about time to do one by ourselves?"

But apart from the extra time it would take us to get such a thing organized, when we first thought about it we didn't have the bandwidth to deliver you the files, we didn't have cool prizes for you to win and we lack the talent to squeeze out that monster track for you to remix by ourselves.

Inspired by the idea that there must be artists around caught up in a similar line of thoughts, step by step the idea transformed into - "How about offering a hosting platform for remix contests?"

Let's be real, talent is not enough to open up the remix doors at Beatportal or Acid Planet. A big profile does. The blogosphere might have changed things a lot, but good music still can have a hard time to get the exposure it deserves. MySpace turned into a monster! In a sense that is good. The underground is the best place for things to ripen :)

Teaming up with someone making stunning music would make sense for everyone. If that someone would supply the monster track, we could expose it to the thousands of remixers checking our remix section frequently. Speaking about (undiscovered?) talent! There must be someone out there capable of converting the stunning track into an even more stunning remix! Wish for anything more?

So we solved the bandwidth issue, we started connecting with potential sponsors to get us some wannahave prizes and discussed the idea with the more talented.
