REMIX SHANNON HURLEY AT ACIDPLANET

I hope to introduce my music to a whole new set of listeners. Also - I am really excited about the interactive nature of remixing.

Shannon Hurley is an Indiana born musician who has been playing music all her life. Being brought up in a family of singers, she picked up playing piano at the age of eight and moved on to trombone later. She graduated with a music degree from University of Colorado at Boulder, where she became the stage manager for Fox Theatre.

Meeting Julian Lennon, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, and Rufus Wainright through this job, Shannon became enamored with songwriting. She studied with Patrick Leonard (hit songwriter for Madonna) and moved to Los Angeles in 2001 where she became a sought-after session musician.

Spending 2005 touring with Universal Motown artist Brie Larson has given her the opportunity to open for Jesse McCartney, Gwen Stefani, The Black-Eyed Peas, and Gavin DeGraw. Currently Shannon is touring to promote her album "Ready to WakeUp". She is also featured in a remix contest at ACIDplanet right now. We asked her for some ins and outs.

In 2007 Rolling Stone picked you as one of their favorite artists on MySpace. Yet your current MySpace page is created in January 2008. Please explain - did you get deleted and why?

"I originally joined MySpace in 2004 and had over 9,000 friends/fans on my page. Yes, it's sad to say, my page got deleted in early 2008. Apparently this has happened to others as well. It was a lesson learned for me- spend less time on the internet, and more on the music. No one can erase the music I write in my head!"
