Venturing wildly into the farthest corners of heavy-hearted American landscapes, State Shirt (Ethan Tufts) sculpts fiery, intense indie rock anthems for the wondering, wandering and hopeful. Ethan lives in Los Angeles, wears lots of state shirts and spend as much time as he can writing and recording music.
On his website he says it was Brad Sucks and Jonathan Coulton (and not NIN and Radiohead) who inspired him to give away his music for free. "Yes, it’s here for free. Though it is available for purchase as well, and of course I would be grateful if you purchase the music, buy a t-shirt or other State Shirt yard sale items." To make a living Ethan has a regular dayjob, but making music is his first love. "Sometimes it’s real hard to do that while living my alternate, monotonous life in front of a desk doing nerd shit."
All of the audio source files for State Shirt's songs are available for remixing. This includes every instrument, loop and vocal track.
Make a State Shirt remix, and get entered to win a Line 6 POD Studio UX2 recording interface. Any remix submitted between November 11 and December 17 is eligible.
Independent from the contest you can collaborate with him otherwise: You do the tunes - he'll do the singin :)
