Ever since the delicate beginnings of Techno in the 80s, Germany and Japan have been connected through their fascination of electronic music. This connection has lead to numerous German-Japanese acts of cooperation: for example, German DJs traveled to Tokyo’s “Wire Festival“ as Japanese DJs annually attend German music festivals such as “Mayday“ and “Nature One“.
One of the most popular guest DJs in Japan’s vibrant clubs is German-DJ-legend Sven Väth. In 2011, during the “150 years friendship Germany-Japan” event, he is celebrating the 30th anniversary (read his mission statement) of his stage debut. This ideal combination motivates Goethe-Institut Tokyo to announce a producer-contest in cooperation with Sven Väth and Cocoon.
Everyone, who wants to participate should upload an unreleased track as *.wav, *.aiff or *.mp3 (min. quality: 320 KB), with a length of max. 15 min. to the Cocoon Tokyo Soundcloud page.
The best tracks will be released on Cocoon Recordings and the winner will be rewarded with „One Night with Sven Väth“ in 2011 (the exact date will be decided individually). This includes:
* Flight for two to Frankfurt
* Overnight stay at "Villa Kennedy"
* Dinner in the restaurant "Micro"
* Free entrance to the "Cocoon Club"
* "Meet and Greet" with Sven Väth
Sven Vath will be on tour in Asia with gigs in Japan at World Club in Kyoto and Womb in Tokyo on the 3rd and 4th of February 2011.
