Detroit Authentic Records, Remix magazine, Beatport and Ableton present the "Take Me Away" remix contest, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to remix a Detroit classic by True Faith w/ Final Cut (Jeff Mills, Tony Srock, Bridgette Grace) and have all of the original individual tracks to do that proper mix. A grand prize winner from each genre will receive a select package of prizes from Remix, Ableton, Beatport, Global Ad Sales.com, MMD Distributors and more.
Final Cut aka Jeff Mills
Final Cut was founded in 1988 by Anthony Srock and the legendary Jeff Mills. They started out with more of a house sound with the initial LP “Deep Into The Cut”. They met up with Jerry Capaldi who introduced them to Bridgette Grace and signed all three to record “Take Me Away” at the legendary Pearl Sound Studios with Ben Grosse engineering. Capaldi encouraged them to broaden their style with vocals to reach a greater market. Shortly thereafter, Jeff Mills left Final Cut and Joe Lafata took his place. Chris Connelly (of Finitribe fame) encouraged Srock and Lafata to integrate more industrial sounds into the Final Cut sound spawning “The Underground Resistance”.
The Retro:Detroit Remix Album
Tied in with this remixing contest is a double disc CD compilation of classic Detroit Techno songs from many of the genre’s pioneers; remixed by some of Detroit’s next generation/up-in-coming producers to give the classics a modern flare and sound. "The Retro:Detroit Remix Album" tentatively named “Then and Now-Detroit Techno” will include both remixed material from the artists in addition to digitally re-mastered recordings of the original classic tracks. The album will be released in conjunction with the ‘Take Me Away’ Single and the ‘Take Me Away’ Remixing Contest Winners Remixed tracks.
