Up Periscope top-6:
1. Aya in Dub (041)
"Really glad a reggae version came in! Great summery vibe to this. Nice blending of the original samples and the whole track builds nicely - perfect."
2. Jimi remix (017)
"Loved this one too, a close second runner up indeed. Good pounding drumbeat, turned a nice chill out tune into a car chase scene from a movie. So glad we had some people brave enough to try different tempo’s. Almost has a 60’s vibe."
3. Magnaray (013)
"Had to give this one a mention as it would’ve won if we were having a 'Who can do the weirdest mix' competition. A tune sounding like you are trying to wade through toffee, or being lost underwater. Also loved the fact that hardly any samples were used, and to use the vocal more as a main feature. Genius! (or madman?)"
4. Squarefeet remix (030)
"A nicely mashed up version. Good use of chopped original samples. I actually know Pepe in person and this style is what he does best."
5. Descarga Electrica remix (032)
"I picked this one as it's clever in the way it really captures the vibe of the original, but altering the whole feel. I really like the gentleness of it - a real easy laid back stoner’s version!"
6. Alex Lavendar remix (037)
"This one was interesting, an eyebrow raising tune that had a very filmesque vibe - like a version made for a late night sad euro cinema experience! It also reminded me of the early Warp records sound. Industrial. Berlinesque."
"I wanted to also mention the Scum Unit remix, for one of the best names in the competition! The other mention is the Shiwa2000 remix. This would have made my list if it had been in on time!"
"So there you go, all my favourites. Some made me laugh, some made me cry. Others just made me shake my head in dis-belief. But hey, that’s the beauty of music and why we all love it so much. A big thanks to all of you who put any time and effort into doing these. Till the next time and place!"

Established by Merv's judging both Cortex and Aya win the first prize - LinPlug's all in one drum solution plugin RMV. But who's the overall winner for inclusion on an upcoming Eat Static release? We've got some great news on that issue further down, but not before we've mentioned the outcome of the voting for second prizes and both winners of the third prizes.
Three top voted remixes got the same number of votes: Cortex' Sin Quest remix (007), Shiwa 2000's version of Up Periscope (054), and Squaremeat's remix of Sin Quest (029). As Cortex already is a first prize winner, the second prizes go to Shiwa 2000 and Squaremeat. Each of them win CronoX, LinPlug's sample mangling engine.
