Remixes are in, sorted out - and posted below for you to enjoy! We’re very happy that the quality of submissions again is of very high standards, and we’re proud that you remixers have rewarded our efforts to bring top notch remix-opportunities with such excellent material. Given the remix entries we received it is obvious that psychedelic music has been, still is - and probably always will be a major inspiration to producers of dance music, whatever its signature. Thanks for all submissions and the creative work you’ve done on these tracks. Respect. And, last but not least, many thanks to Merv Pepler for trusting us with two of his tracks.
First prize winners for both remix tracks will be picked by Eat Static, while the second prize winners will be decided by voting. Contestants are asked to send their personal favorites by email no later than February 10th. Voting is NOT open to the public - ONLY contestants can vote! We have sent out an email to each one of you with instructions. Third prize winners will be picked by Laptoprockers. All winners will be announced in February and will be able to download their prizes soon afterwards. Thank you LinPlug for filling the prize pool with such great prizes.
2x 1st prize - LinPlug RMV - All in one drum solution
2x 2nd prize - LinPlug CronoX - Sample mangling engine
2x 3rd prize - LinPlug Octopus - Top-notch FM Synth
We’ve also asked Merv to pick his all over favorite remix for inclusion on a future Eat Static release.
When listening to the remixes below, please take in mind that due to their mixed origin their volume may vary substantially. You’re advised to listen at moderate volumes at any time.
March 8th - WE’VE GOT WINNERS :) Read full announcement here, including comments by Eat Static’s Merv Pepler on his favorite 10 remixes (plus the winning remix which will be included on a future Eat Static release). All winners will be contacted individually, congratulations! Many thanks to LinPlug for the great prizes!
Now, how did Merv judge the remixes? “A remix for me, and how I still approach them today, should be able to tell a story in its own right, as well as capturing the sound of the band that you are remixing. It should also have your character in it, a part of your own soul - but it should still stay cohesive!“ Thanks Merv Pepler for judging and feedback on the best entries, and of course for allowing us to put up two of your tracks for remixing.
