Abstract Data is an independent UK company that specializes in the design, manufacture and sale of analog musical instruments and effects that fit right into your laptop bag. The company is owned and operated by London-based producer, designer and chief - Justin Owen.
The analog synthesizers and effects from the 'Hex Series' are the first three products available. The handmade units are designed to pack a powerful, flexible range of sounds into a compact format that is suitable for all musical genres, and consists of the Synthex, the Morphex and the Graphex.
Synthex gives you instant access to full-force, knob-turning analog power. Its VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) outputs square and triangle waveforms, while you can use the two external audio inputs to create Hard Sync and FM effects. Several switches and knobs let you to configure your own world of pure analog bliss.
Morphex is an effect that takes any two 'line level' sounds and allows you to morph between them in ways unlike any you have heard before. It allows you to transform, distort, mangle and manipulate in true analog style. Turn percussion loops into walls of sound, transform your soft synths into bizarre soundscapes and warp your vox into breeds of alien disruptors ;)
Graphex is a rhythmic chopping and gating effect. You can use it to create and manipulate 'trance-gate' patterns, 303-style accents, drum loop edits and stutter effects. Graphex takes any line level audio signal and converts the dynamic information into a rhythmic pattern.
Whether you're a musician, producer, sound designer, DJ or live performer - the 'Hex Series' can add analog fatness and warmth to your arsenal of sounds.
