Ableton and Akai Professional announced the APC20, Akai's second dedicated controller for Ableton Live.

Following in the footsteps of the hugely successful APC40, the APC20 offers musicians, producers and performers freedom from the computer keyboard and mouse, providing a fully integrated hardware-software musical system for creative composition and performance. The APC20 comes with Ableton Live Akai Professional APC Edition software, which is fully functional for performance and production - but has several limitations compared to Live's full versions. Of course, excisting owners of recent Ableton versions, can work seamlessly with the APC20.

Like it's bigger brother the APC20 features the same multicolor 8x5 button Session View Matrix, and it's eight high quality faders and two-way communication with Ableton Live. The APC20 also features three modes of operation, built-in customization features and a number of smart new tricks. Same big grid, smaller footprint - but without APC40's dials and less buttons.

Because Akai Professional and Ableton designed the APC20 specifically for Ableton Live, you don’t need to map its controls to talk to the software. Just connect your laptop to the APC20 via USB and you're ready to make magic.
