Ambient pioneer Brian Eno and musician/software designer Peter Chilvers designed two new creative apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch, 'Trope' and 'Air'. Both apps expand further on the ideas introduced by Bloom, their first iPhone application that came out last year.
'Bloom' is played by tapping on the screen and triggering individual bell-like notes. 'Trope' is played by moving your finger around the screen, creating more sustained notes. The sound gets brighter going from left to right, and more 'pure' as you move up or down away from your original position.
"Trope is a different emotional experience - more introspective, more atmospheric. It shows that generative music, as one of the newest forms of sonema, can draw on a broad palette of moods", says Eno.
'Air' assembles vocal and piano samples into a beautiful, still and ever changing composition, which is always familiar, but never the same.

The 'Trope' and 'Air' apps are both available from the iTunes App Store.
