Design Your Own MIDI Controller Contest

DESIGN YOUR OWN MIDI CONTROLLER!

The people at Livid Instruments have announced a great DYI contest. Make the coolest design for a MIDI controller and they'll help you build it!

 Design Your Own MIDI Controller!

Livid Instruments from Austin, Texas are the creators of the Editar, Viditar, Yowstar, Tactic, Livid Looper, Ohm64 and Block to name but a few. All of these products are alternative interfaces and performance tools which they turned into usable real-life products for digital performance such as guitars and controllers. Check their website and see for yourself!

One of their other ideas is Builder, a line of DIY (Do It Yourself) parts that make it easy for users to design their own USB MIDI control surfaces and devices using buttons, knobs, faders, and talkback LED’s. On top of that the BYOB (Build Your Own Board) series allows you to easily configure and create a control device with modular, perforated circuit boards that can be organized into customized setups and configurations.

Livid is now running a contest to come up with a cool design for your own custom made MIDI controller. The good thing is that you can focus on the design rather than engineering it.

The grand prize winner of the contest will receive all the Livid parts necessary to build your controller (incl. wooden body etc). Three runner ups will receive $100 worth of Builder merchandise from lividshop.com

You can enter Livid's "Design Your Own Controller Contest" until July 30th, 2010.
