Imagine your laptop screen surface with real knobs, sliders, real switches for your favourite music software, video editor or game. Imagine being able to set the cut-off filter of your favourite soft-synth by just turning the knob next to it on your screen. This is SenseSurface, just place the unique controls on your laptop and ready to go.
SenseSurface can be used with most laptops with a USB input and the knobs can be removed and repositioned immediately by picking them up and moving to a different part of screen. For audio use, a logarithmic response can be programmed. The system is multitouch and scaleable, the number of controls on the screen is limited by the size of the screen. Linear sliders and switches can also be used on the LCD surface.
Sounds like a must have, doesn't it? SenseSurface is brainchild of Lyndsay Williams.
"I have been thinking for many years how to make a laptop or PC more tactile, user friendly and other controls apart from the mouse. I also wanted to make a 2 dimensional surface become 3 dimensional. On a laptop is it hard to sometimes find a volume control to turn down the volume quickly. I also really missed rotary controls and their tactile feedback as we have on traditional audio equipment and car controls. It is also a lot easier to twist a rotary control than focus our eyes and point a mouse cursor at a scroll bar and adjust.
"There are many applications for sensesurface such as for music control, video editing, flight simulators, industrial controls etc. - and for partially signed users."
